Georgy Tryakin-Bukharov, a Kazakh sculptor and one of the founding figures of modern art in Kazakhstan, was born in 1943. In 1961, he moved to Almaty and has been living and working there ever since. At the Perekrestok Exhibition in 1989, Georgy met Rustam Khalfin, who has become a close friend and collaborator. Since then, their paths have often crossed. Georgy's work can be found in the LOOK Gallery, which is run by Rustam Khalfin.
Georgy creates unique works of art from discarded materials, such as those found at landfill sites and flea markets. These materials are transformed into his creations when they arrive at George's house and workshop. The artist has participated in exhibitions of contemporary Kazakh art and their works are in demand overseas. Installations of George's works have been on display in galleries in countries such as Turkey, Singapore, and the United States, and his masterpiece "The Golden Ratio" was sold at a Sotheby's auction.
