Leningrad
1988
In December 1988, the exhibition "Vladimir Vasilyevich Sterligov, his disciples and followers" was held in Leningrad, organized in the hall of the Directorate of Museums of the Leningrad Region on Liteyny Prospekt. This exhibition became a significant event in the artistic life of the city, presenting the works of Sterligov himself, his students and followers.
Vladimir Vasilyevich Sterligov (1904-1973) was an outstanding artist, a student of Kazimir Malevich, who managed to go beyond suprematism and create an original plastic system. His work had a significant impact on the development of the Leningrad avant-garde.
One of Sterligov's students and a participant in the exhibition was Rustam Halfin. Halfin met Sterligov in 1971 and adopted his experience, developing the traditions of the Russian avant-garde.
The 1988 exhibition highlighted the continuity of artistic ideas and demonstrated the contribution of Sterligov and his school to the development of contemporary art.
